Shears & Grooming Kits

Our shear range is the largest part of the Mintor catalogue: 87 items covering straight, curved, thinning, chunker, fishbone and texturizing shears, left-handed models, and multi-piece grooming kits.

Steel grades. Shears are made in three grades. 440C is our most widely used shear steel — hard, corrosion-resistant and the default choice for professional salon work. 9CR suits volume ranges and entry-level professional lines. VG10 is our premium grade for buyers who need maximum edge retention.

Model series. Our curved shear range runs across series H003, H005, H006, H009, H010, H011, H019 and H022, in 6, 6.5, 7 and 7.5 inch lengths. Within a series you can choose the blade type — chunker, fishbone, texturizing or thinning — which makes it straightforward to build a coherent range for one market rather than mixing unrelated tools.

Thinning ratios. Thinning and texturizing shears are listed with their supplier-specified ratio, typically 25–30%, 50–55%, 70–75% or 75–80%, so you can match the tool to the coat type and the groomer’s preference.

Left-handed. Left-handed curved fishbone and chunker shears are stocked, not special order.

Finishes. Matte or polished, depending on model.

Kits. Multi-piece kits are available in 6, 9 and 12 piece configurations for salons that want a ready-made retail or starter set.

Every product page lists the steel grade, model series, length, thinning ratio, finish and catalogue reference, so you can compare specifications directly. Tell us which series and blade types suit your market and we will confirm minimum order quantities and a quotation.

How to specify shears for your market

Shear selection comes down to four variables, and we list all four per product so you can decide rather than guess.

Blade type determines what the tool does. Straight shears cut length and set the outline. Curved shears shape around legs, paws and faces where a straight blade cannot follow the contour. Thinning shears remove bulk without leaving a cut line. Chunker shears create texture and movement in the coat. Fishbone shears are used for finishing and blending, and texturizing shears soften hard lines. A professional groomer needs most of these, which is why a serious range sells as a set rather than as one pair.

Length should match the groomer’s hand and the work. A 6-inch shear suits detailed face and paw work; 7 to 7.5 inches gives more reach and cutting efficiency for body work. Our range covers 6, 6.5, 7 and 7.5 inch lengths.

Convex versus bevel edge. Most of our professional shears are convex-edged, which cuts with less pushing and holds an edge longer than a bevel edge — the trade is that they need more careful handling and a competent sharpener. Bevel- edged tools are more forgiving and cheaper to maintain, which suits entry-level ranges.

Thinning ratio is the percentage of hair a thinning shear removes in one cut. Lower ratios (25–30%) are used for finishing and blending; higher ratios (70–80%) remove bulk quickly but leave more visible marks if used carelessly. Stocking two ratios lets a groomer buy the right tool instead of working around the wrong one.

What buyers get wrong

The most common mistake in a wholesale shear order is choosing on price per unit without checking the steel grade. A 9CR and a 440C shear can look almost identical in a photograph and behave very differently after a month of salon use — one holds an edge, the other does not. Because we list the grade on every product page, you can avoid this entirely.

The second is forgetting left-handed stock. Roughly one groomer in ten is left-handed, and shears are not reversible; a range without left-handed options loses those customers outright. We stock left-handed curved fishbone and chunker shears.

The third is under-ordering kits. Kits sell well in retail settings and carry a higher total value than single tools, but they need the component tools available together. If you intend to sell a 12-piece kit, plan stock around the kit rather than assembling it from leftover singles.

Ordering

Tell us the series and blade types that suit your market — for example H003 curved chunkers in 7 inch, alongside H006 straight thinners — and we will confirm specification, minimum order quantities, sample arrangements and a quotation.
